We are excited to announce that Philadelphia is the proud recipient of this year’s Siemens Sustainable Community Award! In the large-community category, Philadelphia managed to beat out other sustainable cities such as Dallas and Atlanta.
Greenworks Philadelphia is an environmental initiative launched about a year ago and is dedicated to increasing sustainable living for the city of brotherly love. The organization focuses not only on making and building new energy efficient hubs but also improving what already exists. With 15 measurable targets and over 150 specific steps to be reached by 2015, judges were impressed by this ambitious and well-thought-out plan.
What’s more, being winner of this year’s award means next year’s award conference will be held right here in Philadelphia. With over 300 representatives expected to attend from the country’s largest corporations, we look forward to the buzz this will create in our local area.
Our hats go off to the city of Philadelphia – Congratulations!
